current state of things
busy today at beige due to impending visit to iowa. oh to dance with the soybeans, to frolic through the corn, to drive around in my mother's bush supporting gas guzzling SUV.
could that mime be more annoying and horrible? This is my metaphor for the hours I will spend at West Des Moines' Valley West Mall this week. I will be tasting the body chocolate, eating with a silver fork at the Royal Fork. Hot fudge sweatpants.
I do hope to corn frolic and spot some buffalo like last time. I will be spending some time in nursing homes too. People will ask when I am having children, etc. I will be drinking heavily, but not on my dime, which is nice.
I suffered thru a boring reading tonight where sadly, there was no lisping. But there was plenty o wine. At one point I considered tucking a bottle under my desk for tomorrow.
FB, wet sandals are THE BEST footwear choice for beige. Prop those babies up on the desk... no, better yet, code with your toes! This frees up your hands for holding a cocktail.
hates are the fact that many of the songs remind me of the tone of don henley's boys of summer. just overproduced, vocals are too precious, it just sounds lame. there are a few moments, a few better songs. also the lyrics have been driving me crazy, too embarrassing confessional, not interesting. dumb. earnest does not always = good.
last cd listen today is a winner. new built to spill (you in reverse - it has a terrible album art) = loves. if you like neil young & grew up on indie guitar rock in general. finally something good for today.
sorry to bug out on this, but bad album art makes me crazy. it soils the musix a little - can't explain. just print the name in black helvetica on a white background.
I think whomever designer the new BTS album cover is the same person who made the splash page for that spammer's gospel site. When you going to corn land and what ferz?
I know what you mean about really bad album cover art, one of my fav bands Babyshambles has THE WORST art. I try to ignore it, they're musicians, not artists... but still, it taints it a wee lit'l bit.

i like how "wayfarers" changes to "sunglasses" in the second chorus... complex lyrical stylization not to be overlooked.

I almost bought the Raconteurs yesterday. Instead I bought The Balck Keys EP, The Outsiders (a Dutch 60's pop band) and Som Imaginario.
