today's nytimes +
Samuel parker show at the Met. who is the guy and why do i not of him? For once i can thank the NYtimes. This show looks to totally kick ass. i am tempted to go there today in fact....
Curious if others saw the Raedecker show at A.Rosen and what you thought. it was reviewed today. the review really irked me as it seemed to be all about how he could pull off this mixed media thing so well. I say to that so what? Make it about that then.for me, the intention of the works seemed muddled and boring. The subject matter fo the work, why? and I wonder if he was a she how this show would be reviewed... maybe i'm jumping too far out there with that comment but it occurred to me.

PD, I'm glad you posted a long comment, personally, so I would get to read it too. You are great (gladhand!!). Your strong, well-grounded opinions are helpful for others, you are funny but also really smart and it's nice to see you share your perspectives, especially on this topic. Love ya.
PS - Agree, agree, agree that FB, your constantly questioning voice provides an outlet for others to feel ok questioning themselves.
At the risk of gladhandling...right back at ya, MM. Really, last night I was so happy to see you and talk to you. You are smarty smarts to the highest power. You know about my love for you...it began with THE GIRL WHO WROTE WOLF (or before actually) and was firmly cemented when we ate hot dogs in the back of the theatre at Film Forum.
And I want to meet this Painter of Painternyc too.
FB, thanks for sharing in the celebratrix tonight. You are truly a pirates master.
You are all so excellent, I can't contain myself.
i just wanted to say something about Samuel Parker, which is that there is a great article on him in Modern Painters (February '06 I think), which introduced me to his work. I plan on seeing the show too, and want to say thanks for posting this and for being always on the lookout for not-obvious sources of inspiration!!! I have been all about re-visiting the works of certain artists whom I'd previously glossed over in earlier, more smug periods of my artistic life: Burchfield, Nozkowski, Heilman... and even though I never knew about Parker before, he fits into that category. Can't wait to see these in person and learn more.
Wonderful and informative web site. I used information from that site its great. » »
