the fairy prince of the omaha plains

maybe it is lame to post one's own relics. i am lame. yup. so, just back from the shack with some pics for something else & I shot a little close up of this bouquet - this is just a excerpt/detail of my friend the buffalo prince. he is happy in his nest of fleurs hiding out and thinking about candy and the way the clouds move across the sky and stuff like that.

FB, thank you for being lame (so am I), and for posting this great treat of modern art for the eye-bones. I will go to sleep dreaming of Mr. Buffalo Prince and his world of colorbranbles and stripey clouds and lovely craziness.

There is nothing LAME about posting your own relics!!! If it brings joy to your friends and you are proud enough to post then it must be done without question or concern.

This looks AMAZING. This buffalo is protected in his nest of cushiony flora and rainbow emanations. He is ok, he is happy, he is comfy.

ps - please check out wendywhite05.blogspot.com
for some unabashed work posting by a great artist who i am excited to meet sometime soon. WW!!! She rules. FB, I think you will like it mucho if you haven't seen it already.

yes, I think we should all post more relics and such. it is fun to read on ww's blog about how she is thinking about the pieces. like spying into the artist's mind in a diary sort of way. i am really into that. i will have to tell her meself.

i get weird posting images of my own work here ... i dunno. i don't want to be grubbing for attention and compliments (although that is always nice) it feels suspect for my blog. but last night i was just so into my little faerie animal that i had to include him. i figured if it was just a detail that somehow made it ok.

i am mental.

It is not suspect, it's just fabulous.

thanks pd! this is just a detail of a larger piece - hence the fullness (cropping). the prince just wants to pop out and say hello. hello pd.

the 'blank' post on painternyc today is providing much fun for me. i encourage you all to contribute to the invigorating discussion going on there.

Hi FB, I love this! He is in an explosion of dreamy phantasy. Is he hiding in the brambles, taking a break to make sure the coast is clear? If I were him I would never leave the flowers.

Sad note, I am drinking wine before work.

I feel like your paintings would be a very good place to inhabit. I love.

i think there is room for us all in the brambles. plus, in the full image of this it's a goblet, so there is always ample wine at the bottom to be licked up when thirsty.

the next bouquet painting is going to feature multiple buffalo heads. i will personalize them in your honors.

it is really nice to see, your description of the pensive buffalo prince is the best.

i really like the white flower butterfly cherub face beneath the pink flower. it is blake and redon. it is a white empty negative space to refresh that once entered becomes a cool spring of multiple sweet associations.

fairy butler said...

martin, funny you should mention redon as I was completely inspired to make this painting after viewing his bouquet paintings at MOMA earlier this year! you are a perceptive one.

martin is smart in art'n... stuff.

fb, I have come out of retirement to tell you this is your greatest masterpiece yet! Congrats. Soon enough, the world will know the name fairy butler.

I just want to tuck that bison in and give him some warm cocoa...

bb, my man, thanks! where you at these days? are you on a 12-step program?

fairy butler said...

a 12-step in relation to the ether-world, i mean. i, on the other hand, am relapsing today. fiending in fact. oh well. i wish i had something to say about lamar peterson's work today but i am coming up with zilch.

fairy butler said...

ok aa, settle down. whoa. the animaux link is pretty good.

Now Lamar Burton's work would be fun to see.

Anonymous said...

oops! I'm gonna get fired--HANDS HAVE DISINTEGRATED is more like it. Please don't tell her.

Anonymous said...

What about Lamar from 'Revenge of the Nerds'?

fairy butler said...

You would have to wear the space visor to see them, definitely. I have always been more a fan of Data's work though. more postmodern.

fairy butler said...

really though, the sculpture on board the enterprise is the MUST HAVE. the 5 dimensional chess sets and such. although the costume design is lacking in a serious way. hey, this reminds me of something from last week. new post tingling.

I want my hands back!

fb have you ever seen the work of joe brainard? you might like it. a poet but also did these amazing crazy= full flower collages and drawings. in the 60s. i think shows at tibor (but died of aids.) you might want to chekc him out. also wrote a beautiful book called
"I Remember" a collection of sentences of everything he could remember. i really think you would love him.

PS
i really like how this either moves on from the past mood OR puts the annoyed face on the buffalo-- (i'm still obsessing about the annoyed face)

I effing LOVE this FB.

more please. more buffalo.

I almost like the crop as final art..I like how it is 'sploding outta the frame. Buffaloz are the shizz.

fairy butler said...

i know toods, since everyone is responding to this cropped thing (like it is the actual dimensions) I am thinking that perhaps I need to do a 'zoomed in' version of this idea. or people could just be being nice. ??

FB: Was just scouting around and came upon yon painting. I like the way you draw, some of the ways that you look at things are a wee bit similar to how I am looking at things. I am particularly fond of the white flower and the linework at the top of the painting... neat-o! More work!
