Lay off of Bushwick

ok, so it's my fault for reading ny realestate blogs at beige. But I continue to read postings on how awful and horrible Bushwick is. Comments like "hope i don't get killed" and "hold onto your handbag". Comments that seem to say that if you are white and educated you better watch out because you'll be the only one in the whole neighborhood. It fucking annoys me so much!!! Basically - don't believe the hype. It's not true. I have lived in Bushwick for 2 years. It is not perfect but I think you are more likely to be mugged/robbed living Fort Greene or Clinton Hill - a place where the disparity of have and have-nots is wider and butted up against. I don't know. I am just sick of people making generalizations about places they have never been. But maybe it is better to keep Bushwick a secret so these dumb-headed commentors don't become my new neighbors....

meh all the smfs want the good deal and still get the gentrified wonderland. Well as we all know it is not that way. Bushwick from my experience is a much better vibe than I ever got in Fort greene. Ahh fort greene, what a beautiful park...to get jumped in by a buncha highschool bitches! Viva la Bushwick all ya hatorz!

you are cute toodster!

i was just on brownstoner.com and it looks like they are doing neighborhood photo essays on bushwick, sunset park, etc coming soon. i will need to remember to check this. also, i have been wanting to do this myself around where i live just to document. I can format it like 'cute building' vs. atrocity.

i hope the bushwick photoessay is not all about the yucky stuff cause there is plenty of good stuff too. no dog clothing stores though.

um, we are looking for a house in Clinton Hill... a friend who lives there likes it. Maybe we'd be miserable there, I don't know.

But FB, I wouldn't worry about Brownstoner.com. They are very un-snooty about nabes, and are just all-around Brooklyn fans. It would be a real departure for them to publish something derogatory.

clinton hill/FG is beautiful sloth!! i would totally live there. My comment refers to 'people' saying that bushwick is more dangerous "you'll get killed there" than ANY other part of brooklyn barring east new york maybe. anyway, it's not like that - at least where i live??

are you finding any good houses?? I love house hunting/driving around. I am obsessed. and yes, i'm sure brownstoner will do a good job. i have no complaint with them overall. sometimes the comments are crazy but that's comments.

True true, FB. Our neighbor in Bushwick was mugged, but recently a woman from our current digs was violently mugged... right in our building's front entryway! HFP was mugged in the heart of W'burg a few years back. So it happens everywhere. And Bushwick is definitely livable, and on the upswing.

You have to be smart and careful no matter where you live in the big city.

P.S. it's block-by-block in C.H., as much of brooklyn. Our friend who lives there says Myrtle Ave. is referred to as "Murder Ave." Several scary projects around there, and not many around Bushwick, from what I remember; just a mix of residential and commercial spaces with low-income families, businesses and artists.

the stretch of murder avenue from my house to my friends in Prospect Heights it especially grim. KFC, liquor stores, abandoned buildings. but, it too will change with time. i swear.

Yeah after moving to uber-yuppie cobble hill someone tried to pick a fight with me via pitching a paving brick at me, so it doesn't really matter where you are; the bitches are everywhere. (I call punk ass kids with nothing to do but be a pain in the a-hole "da bitches")
